Overview
Vehicle tuning is the process of modifying a vehicle’s performance and appearance to enhance its power, aesthetics, and/or handling. Tuning can be performed on cars, trucks, motorcycles, and even boats. There are several types of tuning that can be performed on a vehicle, including performance tuning, aesthetic tuning, handling tuning, and audio tuning.
Performance tuning involves modifying the engine, transmission, suspension, and other mechanical components of a vehicle to increase its power and/or handling capabilities. Engine tuning is a common form of performance tuning that involves modifying the engine to increase its power, efficiency, or both. Common engine tuning modifications include installing a performance exhaust system, upgrading the air intake system, installing a performance chip or remapping the engine’s computer, and installing performance engine components such as cylinder heads, camshafts, or pistons.
Transmission tuning involves modifying the transmission of a vehicle to improve its shifting performance and/or increase its torque capacity. Common transmission tuning modifications include installing a performance clutch and upgrading the transmission gears.
